Provincial Nominee Program

The Government of Canada has made agreements with most of the provincial governments to allow provinces to have more impact on the selection of their immigrants. People who wish to move to a specific province has the option of filing applications through the provincial nominee program. This process is two parted and requires that you first apply to the province directly and then to the federal government. The selection criteria of the nominee program are different and are not based on the six selection factors of the Federal Skilled Worker program. Each participating province has a specific method for evaluation, different immigration needs and asses cases based on the genuine intention to settle in the province. The following provinces are currently operating the provincial nominee program:

  • Alberta
  • British Columbia
  • Manitoba
  • New Brunswick
  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Nova Scotia
  • PEI
  • Saskatchewan
  • Yukon
