A business immigrant is someone who will make an investment that will generate a significant economic gain for the province of Québec. There are three categories under the business immigrant umbrella; Investor, entrepreneur and self-employed. Below you will find a description of the qualifications that you needed for each category.

Investor Program

1. Investor immigrants must have a minimum of $800, 000CAD that has been gained through legal means;
2. You need to have at least 3 years of management experience. This experience should include planning, supervision and control of financial resources, human resources and material resources. It is necessary that these three years be acquired over the course of the 10 years preceding your application for a Québec Selection Certificate. Quebec states that all gained experience be in a profitable and legal business (agricultural, industrial or commercial- in government or in an international organization);
3. You must invest a minimum of $400,000 CAD for (five years, with a financial intermediary)
4. Other factors will also be included in your eligibility assessment.

Entrepreneur

1. Entrepreneur immigrants need to have at least $300,000 CAD in net assets (gained in accordance with the law);
2. They must have a minimum of 3 years of management experience in the areas of planning, supervision, human resources, financial controlling and control of material resources. This must be acquired in a lawful and profitable business (agricultural, industrial or commercial);
3. This class of immigrants must submit a business plant to establish or buy a business in Québec that will employ three Québec residents not including you or your family members.
4. You must also do the following for at least one year within the first three years after you have become a permanent resident:
   
   
   • Control 1/3 of the Capital of a Canadian business;
   • Actively and continuously manage the corporation
   • You have to create at least one full-time equivalent job for Canadian citizens or permanent residents not including you or your family.Other factors will also be included in your eligibility assessment.

Self-Employed Worker Program

1. A self-employed immigrant must come to Quebec and create their own job in their respective employment field;
2. They must have a net worth of at least $100,000 CAD (gained legally);
3. They must have at minimum, two years of experience in their respective field as a self-employed worker. The experience must be in the field that they will pursue in Québec;
4. Other factors will also be included in your eligibility assessment.
