Quebec Temporary Worker

If you want to temporarily live in Québec and have temporary position there are some steps that need to be taken by your employer. Since this procedure involves you, it is good to be familiar with the process. You must:

  1. Prove that you meet the requirements of the job. You can do this by providing a CV and applying for the job through the appropriate process;
  2. Have a license or another similar document from a professional association (this is only necessary if the job requires you to have one);
Your employer must suffice several requirements as well:
  1. You employer must be able to prove that they have sufficiently attempted to recruit local employees. They must have , used the standard recruitment channels such as print media, electronic media, internet etc. to show that they have made full effort for local recruitment. In some cases, the employer is not obliged to prove a local labour shortage if this has already been established by both government levels.
  2. Your employer must provide working conditions that are both competitive and equivalent to those related to a similar job in this sector of activity.
  3. The job offered must respects the relevant legal and regulatory requirements (absence of work conflicts, written consent from the union, a valid permit to practice if applicable and required, etc.).
